I am an Assistant Professor in the Computer
Science Department at San Francisco
State University, and a Research Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at the
University of Waterloo. I will be
joining the faculty at Waterloo full-time in Summer, 2006. Link to my
Waterloo webpage here.
My primary research interests are currently focused on PUIs,
Perceptive User Interfaces, in pen computing with particular emphasis on sketch
recognition and the application of pattern recognition to user's actions.
I also
work with Microsoft's Bay Area Research Center on small components of the
MyLifeBits project. My specific project in this area involves browsing in large,
time-varying data sets.
Finally, I do some work in Bioinformatics, specifically
on the design and implementation of a community-based repository for
biological multimedia information with applications to research and to
teaching, and the design of software tools to aid field biologists in data collection.
